Crane Houses

Developer: Deutsche Immobilien AG, Moderne Stadt Köln und Pandion AG
Architects: Bothe, Richter, Teherani und Linster Architekten
Service: Reinforcement planning
Budget: €50 million and €60 million

Reminiscent of harbour cranes with outriggers, the imposing ‘Crane Houses’ dominate the silhouette of Rheinau Port in Cologne. Designed by architects BRT Bothe, Richter, Teherani und Linster Architekten, these office and residential buildings, whose top storeys are some 61 m in height, extend right up to the banks of the Rhine. The reinforcement plans for Crane Houses North and South were created in 3D by our engineering office, Lothar Bluhm, thus facilitating supply and execution of all the fittings and the pre-stressed concrete beams required by the construction procedure.
